On of my favorite meets to attend. All real driving cars and owners, not just trailored museum pieces.

Too bad its so far, as I'd love to attend that meet! I have a friend who leaves near there and she's already planning to go, so I'll get lots of digipix.

Thanks for all the encouragement from John and Mr. Ride Decide.
I have started making plans, maintenance and repairs.

I liked Kevin's comment about real driver cars. I have two old "drivers". My Clipper Jack and a 1939 LaSalle survivor. I have never owned a car that was TOO nice to drive.

We'll, Salado it is. Now I need to get my brother (from HillBilly Packards ) down there too.

Always thought I'd like to attend, see the cars and meet some of the Packard folks from the forum, but seems a long trip from North Carolina. If we were to set out on such a trip at the last minute what are the odds for finding suitable lodging and fitting in with the folks?

Jim, fitting in with the folks will not be a problem. We are welcoming to all, especially those who travel a long distance to attend. Finding accommodations in Salado might be a problem. Salado is a small town and just a few motels. Try the Stagecoach Inn first. If they are full (most likely) there is a Holiday Inn and a Best Western nearby. If all are full try something in Belton about 7 miles north of Salado. Round Rock and Georgetown are about 30 miles south of Salado with a good number of motels. Austin is only 50 miles south of Salado and there are many motels in the northern part of the city. Lots of choices outside of Salado, but will require a bit of driving. Look forward to seeing you in Salado.

Sadly no Salado for me this year. It is the same week as spring break for my kids and I am taking them on vacation.
