okay, the one that is on that hudson pump is a metal impeller, so they say. i'll probably buy it just to get the impeller, so i don't have screw with the backlite ones. the shaft is 5/8" diameter they say.

i like the style of the impeller because it matches the concave of the water distribution housing. i'm sure the stainless one works fine though.

would be nice to know what that impeller came from or was it just made.

and does anyone know where to get just a impeller shaft seal. since apparently i am the grim reaper of them, i need another.

By part number 426059, probably only Kanter or another vendor. Packards1 had some at one time. Any chance of measuring and crossing to a swimming pump seal like the guys in Australia seem to have down to a science.

i asked Joel...he doesn't have anymore seals.

i still haven't called Max, but last i heard they wont sell them seperate from the rebuild kit, so idk.

besides someone had to make these, and i'm sure there was a part number besides the Packard one, i just don't recall seeing it on the part. i think i remember seeing a company name though.

when i pull it up on places like autozone, they have a marine pump section with stuff that is similar, but i don't think would work.

found this picture, notice the one on the far right of the picture. exactly the same, if the diameter is good.

ferrari 246 uses something similar, but i don't know the diameters of the part to see if it would fit.

may take a trip to the local grainger supply house and see if they will let me look around.

A while back I spoke with one of the largest rebuilders of water pumps in SoCal. He says the Packard OEM seal is NLA. He remachines the housing and fits a new type seal.

My guess is if he can't find it, it isn't out there.

hh56, looks like the hudson hornet one was an exact match to the backlite ones, just cast.

when was yours rebuilt? was it older, maybe that impeller was a know replacement or something.

if so...i got some crazy rare thing going on there, then again maybe not. maybe its really plastic and they lied to me, idk. if so i get ebay to take care of it.

Jack, i still plan to find my way to Grainger supply....if i can find some workable valve springs, maybe i can pull that seal outa my hat too. never know.
