Hi Bryan

If I were you, I'd take a trip to Lake Geneva, WI to inspect and drive it. The 23rd Series Super Deluxe Eight has the looks and feel of the Custom Eight without the extra expense, easier to live with and enjoy.

If this car is as good as or better than it looks in the poor photos, and mechanically robust, it would be a great bargain. That 327 is one sweet engine!

Steve

I have always wanted a 56 Packard so I reached out to that 56 400 seller but he has no phone with the ad.

Hi BDC

That '52 250 convertible in Duluth looks like a tremendous bargain to me! If its as good in the metal as it looks in photos, it'll sell quickly. Stick with overdrive!

More Junior choices, both 120 and sixes:

A '35 120 sedan, the 893 without the trunk:

A '37 120 "barn-find" touring sedan, dust included, pricy:

A '40 110 sedan, take off those vinyl seat covers and enjoy:

A '46 Clipper Six, looks nice all around, but you have to like that green.....:

Wouldn't it be nice if we knew what some of those over priced cars actually sold for or if they sell at all? CL is free and so you see all kinds of cars.

The seller of the yellow and white 56 400 did call me. The car has been in storage in the SW for 30 years, shows around 67,000 miles according to the seller and is an A/C car.

Seemed pretty firm on $5000. Nice PAC owned 400's can be had for $15,000 to $25,000, making a $5000 starting price tough to swallow but it is fair, compared to what project 56 Cadillac Coupe deVilles are bringing in similar condition and at much higher production.

With stock markets crashing in China if another collapse is beginning those prices might crash as well.

Years ago I went to a big numismatics show in New York City (only out of curiosity). There they had a well known rare coin with an MS65 (Super Mint State) grading certificate and a $13,000 price tag (or was it $31,000?). I inquired about the thing and forgot about it mainly because the people there were really creepy. I told them I would take it off their hands if they sold it in another state and avoid New York City sales taxes. I gave them my number, but they never called me. It hasn't gone up in value one lick.

I should be getting dad's 56 400 back Thursday. I had a mechanical refresh done on it to make it drivable. According to my mechanic he thinks i'll be in for a surprise. He says that 374 engine is unbelievable in power, it's like driving a muscle car. He's been driving it for a month and fixing little things that keep popping up on it. He's put $150 worth of gas through it, says it'll pass anything but the gas station.

He and I both drove my 55 400 and the 55 Constallation, which were nice but I wouldn't jump up and down on their performance. They were like driving big soft pillows down the road.

It'll be interesting seeing what the 56 is like.
