Today was a garage clean up day. Sorted and stored all the unsold parts to get out of the way as I was tired of tripping over stuff. Took the Clipper out this morning for an extended drive as I had not driven her in almost a month.

Also did a second shorter drive this after to drop eldest daughter off at a friends house.

There you go making the kid suffer again--although in primer it does look better than it did the last photo you took when they were with you. No AC in todays Riverside heat--she will be scarred for life.

eh....leave them holes! you have no a/c and you never know when you will want a splash of water on your toes to cool down. you might find a puddle to run through LOL!

LOL, yeah, but not practical. The wife refuses to ride in the car petrified of the road rushing visibly past her feet. Me just covering it with a mat didn't satisfy her as a fix.

Also if you look at picture "Floor Rust 3" you will see a black patch panel on the floor under the accelerator. This is literal where I put my foot down, and through! The floor was so rotten there that the accelerator mounting bracket broke through the floor and causes the accerator rod to bind and stick. YIKES!

So a piece of scrap metal and some screws were used to put me back on solid footing.

This is proof that even California cars get rust. This is what happens when cars are allowed car sit out in the elements for 20 years with bad door seals. Water gets in, and the carpet holds that moisture against the floor for a long time. All the rust was from the top down, the bottom side looks great expect for where the holes are. The rear pans are good, just a lot of surface rust. The front pans are shot from the front of the seat all the way up into the toe boards. So follow along as I fumble by way through replacing them!

Todays progress:

Doors sills removed. 60% of the scows had rusted heads to the point where I had to use a screw extractor to remove them.

Seat tracks removed from floor. Two of the mounting studs were managed from an impact with something under the car. I will have to replace with a carriage bolt or something.

Laid the replacement front panels onto the floors to check filament. I think these panels were modeled off of a 51-52 floor pan. They will work, but will need some fine trimming and tweaking to get them in there flat.

Hi Kev,

I was wondering about the effects of the Lucas Transmission Fix you put in the Ultramatic. Do you notice any differences or improvement. How much did you add, 1 or 2 bottles?

A the moment I'm considering to do the same, so I'm interested in any positive or negative effects.

Well so far no real difference, but it was a hail mary pass to see if I could get the DD clutch to engage. I used two bottles.

OK, I see. Well, it did no harm either as some of the reviews I read were not too positive.

By the way: do you think it is a good idea to keep the engine running at 800 rpm when checking the level in stead of turning the engine off and checking within a minute?
I guess it is the same procedure as with modern automatic transmission.
