Undetermined what color it will end up. But rattle can black is easy to cover up and keep rust off for now. Also it highlights all damage in the fenders that need to be addressed. The black fenders look better than two really rusty front fenders, one half rusty half faded black rear, and one green rear. At least they are all the same crappy black now, and the rust won't get worse in the short term.

It for sure looks better with the running board trim added.

Looks great! I’m not sure what’s going on but starting yesterday I’ve been unable to open the larger versions of photos. The address bar just has about;blank in it. Some work but most don’t so I can enlarge this one to see how nice it looks although it sure looks nice in the smaller inline image. Oddly, if I wait a bit, then try again, it often works!

It always works for me. Nothing different in the code. But that sounds like browser gremlins. I'd force a restart of your browser.

Maybe a little bug here, though, as it won't let me enter about COLON blank. It keeps putting about;blank with a semicolon.

Yes, it does in a sentence. I tried it already. But not in the particular phrase I was typing. It fails every time and does so again when I try to correct it. Don't worry about it as it's not major and I don't want to hijack this thread to it.

First drive of the season wouldn't be right unless it was 34f outside and my wife driving. Last year it was 27f.

We took it out on a shakedown run last night (before it started snowing), and I tweaked the mixture settings a couple of times because I was getting a bog on acceleration from 1st to 2nd gear.

Also, I suddenly discovered that the parking brake handle ratchet was not locking into place. Once I got back home, I looked up under the dash to find the spring that kept the pawl engaged in the handle ratchet had broken. It lasted 87 years, so I can't complain too much.




I adapted a replacement spring from a box of assorted modern springs I had.

The replacement mudguards/fender braces arrived from John Ulrich. The ones on the car are pretty rusty, cracked and generally beat up.

I've give these a coat of paint, and get these installed as soon as it warms up. It's currently snowing outside. Remind me to punch that stupid groundhog!
