The Black 400 in DFW is interesting. There is something cool about all black 50's 2 door hardtops when so many of them were painted wild 50's shades.

Hi
Be careful of that '56 Clipper ad from Russia. The photo is from another CL posting, its the usual scam they try to pull. Now, from real owners with Packards for sale: A '40 120 sedan, white: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/ant/cto/5320181430.html A '41 110 Deluxe sedan, "My wife is making me sale the vehicle." poor guy, list it as a "4 cylinders" too: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/5293023069.html A '41 120 coupe, maroon, no information: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/5336258158.html A '48 Super Eight convertible project, will at least need upholstery patterns: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/5321065962.html Another '48 convertible project and additional parts cars: http://palmsprings.craigslist.org/cto/5302727636.html Four projects for one price: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/cto/5306327164.html Finally, a slick, black '53 Clipper Special sedan, nice if incorrect interior, ready to enjoy: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/5303435678.html Steve

Believe the " '40 120 sedan, white" may be this one.

The maroon 41 coupe looks like it has been chopped, or is it the visor that gives it that look?

It appears there are no "cats whiskers" on the left front fender, as all Customs had when built, how can we verify that it is a Custom Super?

Hi Svensk
A quick visual identification of the '46-'47 Custom Super Clippers isn't easy. Management, for reasons only known to them, chose to give their top-of-the-line model no distinct features that the casual observer could readily pick out. The 'whiskers' show up on practically all, even the Sixes where they weren't originally equipped. Dealers like to sell those extra cost doll-up items then for more profit. The seven inch difference between the front clip of the Senior Clippers versus the Junior Sixes and Eights is easy to identify once you school yourself in the proportional differences. Of the Senior Clippers, both Super and Custom Super share all the same sheet metal on 127" wb. To the specific details: The Super has "Super Clipper" model nameplates on the cowl and front door and hubcaps without the cloisonn? center. The Custom Super has no model nameplate at all on the cowl and front door and should have the hubcaps with cloisonn? centers. Given how easy it is to add or subtract those identifiers, checking series and model numbers is the best way. In this case, the seller has included the 2122 data plate and model information. Photos show the interior is that unique to the Custom Super. It's also better to have the engine number to check against the documented engine series numbers. A long answer to the short question... A few more picking in California: A '49 Super Eight 23rd Series sedan, good restoration start: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/5293337147.html A '50 Eight sedan, drive now, restore later: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/5269241711.html A '51 200 sedan, 36K miles, looks great but pricey: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/5307840914.html A '51 Patrician, solid, that popular green then: http://ventura.craigslist.org/cto/5331810878.html A '53 Cavalier project in primer: http://bakersfield.craigslist.org/cto/5333258300.html Steve

Re: 47 Custom Super Clipper
Thank you for clarifying an unclear area. I was aware of the front to back ribs in the headliner, but there were no pix ok that in the interior.
