I remember those old fans. Big ones, little ones, and those in between. We survived but today wouldn't some lawyer or govt agency have fun with metal blades and a grill you could stick half your arm thru.

Well at least u had electricity to run the fan. There were several rural areas of the US that didn't have electricity till as late as 1964. Communities in the area of the so-called Grinders Switch made famous by M Perl.

What amazes me is the modern near extinction of out door toilet facilities. Anyone can laugh if they want to, go ahead. But how smart is the modern man who runs OUTside to bar-b-q his food, eat it at a picnic table outside and then runs into the house to take a shit.

What do u plan to do with the fire extinguisher????

After a good polish and some paint, it's going to be either garage or office decor. First I need to get the solidified chucks of baking soda out of it.

More sanding on the car this evening. Nothing to exciting, just more mundane blocking were I had applied some lightweight filler to level a little waviness on one of the fenders. Also stopped by Harbor Freight to pick up a couple of stripping discs. I will use these to clean up the front and rear window channels, and also strip out the trunk interior.

The summer heat is already coming on strong, so my garage time is limited. Actually looking forward to the coming wet sanding stage.

I like your fan and fire extinguisher. It is neat to have these old items, and especially when they still work.

I made a lamp out of my extinguisher. This Soda-Acid type fire extinguisher was in my father's dealership building for many years. Years ago, when the building was changing tenants, I saw the old extinguisher hanging on the wall and took it home as a keepsake. I gutted the inside and drilled and tapped the top to accept a lamp nipple fitting. Then, I fitted it out to be a nice floor lamp. It has been with me through five moves. I always smile when I turn it on.

John, that looks great! Neat idea.

Did a little work on the extinguisher this evening. The hardest part to repolishing one of these is removing the 60 year old clear lacquer the was applied at the factory. I used some steel wool and a lacquer thinner to remove it all, then polishing compound on a cloth wheel to polish it us. Looking pretty good now, but needs another polishing pass.
