Looks nice; but "only 85,000 miles" could be cause for some concern, it's a pittance for modern cars but a lot of miles for an engine of that era. If the engine hasn't had some major service it could be a significant bill, a good quality valve job can run $15,000 or more. And with rod bearings being nearly unavailable, that's another concern.

Interesting to note that the 55 Clipper with stick and OD has the clutch pedal pad in the conventional orientation, but has power brakes. This is different than the 53 Sportster. Maybe the 55 had the TU replaced.

It kind of looks like the gear indicator is still on the steering column. This one is an odd ball. I really love those wheels, though ...

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

These recent stick shift cars are interesting, especially the last one, the 55 Panama. Note the steering wheel, and shift lever. Can't tell from the photo, but looks like a pre-55 steering column too. Maybe a pre-55 trans was fitted? Also, no power brakes.

Hi JW

The owner of the stick shift '55 Panama notes "The car has a straight 8 cylinder with 3 on the tree." in the ad, but no photos of it.

Here's the steering wheel which looks to be a 1954 transplant. Its an oddity!

Steve
