The door sheet metal looks pretty wavy to me. Which means body work needs to be done still.

Probably all those bolt on parts would need to be repainted again since good luck trying to get everything to match and blend. There is a reason they say to paint a car by the same painter, on the same day, using the same paint gun. It would be quicker to repaint everything, than try to blend and match those red panels.

I dont think it's meant to be a two-tone car. As you wouldn't have painted the truck lid like that. I just think he painted panels off the car, and didnt do the body shell for some reason.

Hi

For comparison, here's that chalky-blue '37 Super Eight sedan with the postwar engine listed by Copart Auctions:

http://www.copart.com/us/Lot/19068566?searchId=2075483843

Someone has bid $24.5K as of today. Get a load of their "Est. Retail Value" : $130,000 USD!

Apparently Copart typically overestimates collector car values, witness this '54 Clipper Sportster with the '56 taillights and 'continental kit' back porch:

http://www.copart.com/us/Lot/37638035?searchId=2075483843

Buy It Now price: $9,500, Est. Retail Value: $38,300 USD....

You had me scared there as I was wondering who would bid that amount, but no one has bid on the car yet. If you go back to the CL ad in the upper-right corner it says "No Bid." So I think that is their initial bid amount. Their second listing starts at $125.

1935 eight convertible coupe. On the outside it's still looks ok, but underneath it's skin...

http://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/cto/5511023847.html

To bad it got butchered. Especially the dash. I love the original dash in the 35-37 senior cars and then to see this. But on a positive note; looking at the data plate there were a lot more convertible coupes build then I thought!

Estimate according to Blackman is 183 produced which now needs to be revised a bit. Remember numbering for seniors in 1935 began at 201.

Gosh, it hurts so much to see such a rare car mongrelized.

Update on the 35 convertible coupe. Seller found it in Belgium in a museum and enjoyed the car for a while but found it too hard to keep up with modern traffic so he decided to "update" it. Engine & transmission went to a guy that wanted to keep his car stock, and that helped pay for the new updates.
