Mr Pushbutton was giving general advice to everyone, not just the one guy who "knew his engine"

Just a short note to say that I got the engine running today after a two-month engine compartment field day. The after market flex fan is smooth and quiet.

the shroud from welder joes will not be a good fit the hole is too small and i would think using a smaller fan would negate the shroud advantage , i could expand the hole but would loose the shroud effect so it was a lesson in futility.

Fan center itself. There are four bolts from the center, rather than circular groove radiation, so the fan is a self-centered. Here are pictures of it, because it close to the '47 before I painted.

There should be a law that SPAMmers can be hunted down like rabid dogs!

Until then, it's not enough that the poster is banned, if the post remains with the SPAM link intact. IMHO, to keep the "grounds" clean and appealing, SPAM posts should be deleted - followed by any responses identifying said SPAM.

However, rather tnan "walking a beat" 24/7 for SPAM. I've participated in another forum where any form of embedded URL is screened out of any post made by a "newcomer" until after they have accomplished a certain (undisclosed) number of posts. As a result, SPAM is practically non-existant there. If one of those boneheads has the stamina to make it through the first gauntlet, then they get banned - sending 'em right back to square one.

I'd like to see that implemented here. If so, it " should somehow be disclosed to all new registers (but without revealing the exact threshold).

I don't know about a threshold. There have been some instances of an infrequent poster providing an excellent link in response to a question. Would surely hate to put anything in the way of that.

The long and the short of it is that the fan did not fit out of the box. The centering hole in the fan is too small. More interestingly, the bolt slots are too big, so the fan will not properly self center (too loose). We will probably enlarge the hole in the fan......
