While I was there I found the speedometer I need for the Speedster, I doubt I'll ever see top end!

Crankshaft, which is actually smaller than I thought it would be, it's about the size of a Packard straight eight crankshaft.

The crankcase is pretty reasonable sized, too. Keep in mind that once the thing is all together with the supercharger and the gear reduction for the prop on, it weighs about 1,500 lbs.

Good to hear there's some action on the Packard Merlin front.

Since Mal's timely and appropriate picture of Thor, I figured I'd show you the "real" Thor that's been helping me:

And also, since there's more than one way to skin a cat, I got the real axle out today:

I also worked out the eventual ride height, which will be the final height when I'm done, using me as a reference, it's 44" from the garage floor to the top of the cowl:

Not pictured is the work I did getting the cowl mounted in 4 places, so it's a lot more stable than it was. And I'm going to end up using the '56 Patrician steering column, as it fits perfectly on the original '36 column bracket. Funny thing is, the '37 115c column doesn't. Must be a "Senior" thing!
