I don't like the postwar "bathtub" models except for the 2 door versions. I like this 47 club sedan, I hope she'll find a good home.

As I have noted before the 42 160 in Alexandria is Admiral Baldrige's car. He put over $30,000 into it in the 1980's. If somebody buys it I have pictures Baldridge sent to me when he was alive.

Yeah the 41-47 Clipper designed bodies are nice.....

Who's admiral Baldrige?

Thanks for the reference to Admiral Baldridge. A check of google reads of a notable figure in Naval history.
Someone should save this car! It makes me think that many of our Packards were owned by notable people, but that's not the only reason to save a Packard of course.
I am fairly local, but this car is just too big for my garage.

You might have the wrong Baldrige. The 42 160 was owned by Elward Baldridge who was a commander during WWII and was promoted to the permanent rank of Rear Admiral after the war.

I'd buy it except that it doesn't fit into my current situation. I was at a meeting last month and one of the engineers was working 14 hour days.

When I was a kid Baldridge offered me a commission at Annapolis. I turned it down because I already had an offer to work in applied math in New York City. Reagan was president and there was no chance in hell I would swear allegiance to him. Besides that, I probably would have been put onto a submarine, the San Pablo, or something else of no use. Sure I would be retired by 50 but I'd have lived a screwed up life. Elward had a terrible drinking problem.

Looking at all the pics closely, I understand the asking price now. It's a parts car only. The body has extensive, and expensive structural rust/damage. Lots of good parts, but the body is rotten.
