Those club coupes have the shape the street rodder/customizers like. Plus they are cheap when compared to a Mercury. Hudsons fall into the same category. It is a shame that those rare body styles are being subjected to such torture.

considering how much after market there is on the chevy cars, I doubt that they are getting scarce. you can practically build one from new parts and body panels.

seems to me they are wanting cheap and different. and none of those guys find a 4 door desirable.

Those street rods are junk. They aren't any more roadworthy than an original car. I passed one the other day in my modern car. He was doing 55-60 mph and hanging on for life. If I was an insurance company I wouldn't sell those knuckleheads life insurance.

The rodders are really going after the step-down Hudsons too, and the National club is encouraging it. I don't get it.

Tim, I have a 1948 Packard all original with 16 thousand original miles. It has been checked and needed repairs made and service work done by a professional mechanic. Do you feel this car is not road worthy.?

I really like that '47. It looks to be in great shape, great color, great interior. What a steal at $10 grand!!!

Also, I guess the '54 convertible is free ...

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

Hi MrBumble

If you like the looks of the '47 Clipper Deluxe, take a look at this '46 Clipper Super, gorgeous, but a bit more dear:
tippecanoe.craigslist.org/cto/5755400999.html

In the terrible photos of this '40 160 or 180, it not only has side-mounts but also an air condition outlet visible in the rear compartment photo:

A '55 Clipper Custom, perhaps ready to enjoy:
grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/5752897911.html

A '56 Clipper Super, very decent-looking "barn-find", somewhat near where BigKev will land:

9-23-2016: Added three choice pre-war selections:

A '29 640 Custom Eight roadster:
