The seller claims one is a prototype, it looks like a 56 with 55 seats, modified rear door panels, courtesy lights added on the C pillar and front kick panels ...could this be an 'Esquire'?

The other one has floor-mount manual trans added along the way, with the pushbuttons still in place

The other a '51 250 convertible, light green, older restoration, visible in the second photo:

1953 Clipper Sedan looks to be in decent condition. Would probably get more attention if he titled his ad something more specific than "old school."

What could be the purpose of the knob/switch to the far right of the dash above the Packard script on the '56 "prototype"?

Can't think of anything functional that isn't already close to the driver or that wouldn't go under the dash close to him if it needed an extra switch. Possibly a passenger who smoked found a lighter would be more convenient on the right rather than having to reach across the dash. Is that an ashtray under the vent window in the modified rear door? There is also a lot of extra electrical on the firewall where the heater should be. I'd be curious to know what that is for or what else makes the owner think it is a prototype rather than a dealer or owner modified car.

There's an auction on July 26 in Cadiz, Ohio that features a very dusty 1947 Clipper sedan. It's hard to tell from the pictures but I'm guessing it's a junior model.
