Was a beautiful day to do some color spraying. For a newbie I think they turned out pretty good. I found the parts that hang tend to get more orange peal then the pieces that lay flat. Will have to do some color sanding and buffing.
Had a little mishap on one of the hood side panels it slid down horse that I had it setting on and some garage from the wall fell on it. Will have to wet sand and respray. Next time I will lay it flat to spray it. Thanks all for your help. I has been a long road but it is getting there

Some Pictures of the rumble seat lid. There are a few fish eyes which I will need to take care of at some point.

Hi Tom
Very good choice on the color combination! Really classy! And the results look good as well even for a beginner! I think you will be happy with how it turns out. I also find that spraying on a flat area is easier, maybe cause it tends to lessen the chance of runs? I have to upgrade my spraygun soon. Are you happy with yours? I have a 150 liter Fini cpmpressor made in Italy. It is fine for my needs, just need a good gun, maybe like a devillbiss. Enjoy the painting!

Hi AfricaPackard,
I was debating on going with the original color like this car Tbirdmans Packard But as you can see I went with the Red Mahogany. For gun choice I went with this one. For that price you can't beat it. Devilbiss GF-670G "Plus". I am running it of a Huffy 32 gallon 5hp compressor. For me it is working out pretty well. If I were to do and all over (the whole car at one time) I would have looked at getting a bigger compressor. Yes paint lays out better when laying flat as you can see with the rumble seat lid picture but the only thing is bugs and dust like to land on your freshly paint surface. :(

Doors are painted but will need some cutting and buffing. As you can see the Orange Peal (I just can't get it figured out but I will some day ) and some runs.

Tom,
Thanks for posting your first attempts. I find them encouraging for the rest of us amateurs that are still workin' up the nerve to pull the trigger. Good lookin' results. Enjoy! DanL

Been awhile since I have added any thing to my blog so this is where I am at.
Sprayed some High Build on Saturday 10/18/2008 and now let the sanding/blocking begin. Then some more High build and more sanding/blocking and hopefully then sealer which will probably have to wait until next spring. _________________________ Tom Woodridge, IL 1931 Packard 833-468 Coupe AACA Member # 900049 s153.photobucket.com/albums/s210/packin31/ Attach file: (10.38 KB) (15.46 KB) (13.17 KB)
