I worked a bit on the photo.

"Tom Lyle's 1939 Packard 120 Convertible Victoria, at the Villa Valentino, where Bill spent his youth. All of Tom Lyle's Packard's were custom made. One was famous for having gold plated chrome."

Anita Stewart, a silent film star. According to its caption the picture shows a 1930 Packard convertible sedan.

Another American actress of the silent film era was Phyllis Haver.

Phyllis Haver in Chicago (1928)

Dressed in a waitress costume, behind bars and silent - it leaves almost nothing to be desired. Well, Randy wants her in a locomotive ... and Howard would probably arrange her in an earthquake-proof shelf.
Do we have them with a Packard? Yes, as a matter of course. Everything else woud have been an abnegation of the car world in those days!

Stewart's car is obviously a custom, but I can't quite place it to a particular builder. I thought Brewster at first, or Murphy. I don't think the car still exists. It's possible it's not a 1930.

Notice the extremely wide concave belt line section. There's a 1929 Murphy convertible sedan in the Dayton Packard Museum. I'll have to try and compare. There is no hood spear on the car, which would normally tell you that it's a 1929 as opposed to 1930, but Brewster and some others are noted for leaving that spear off.

The Haver car looks to be a 1932 Eight coupe-roadster (convertible coupe in layman's terms). Though it's possible it's a Deluxe Eight with the Eight bumpers.

West, thanks for assigning the snippets to the Packard overall picture.

Perhaps you have seen the youngest of the Lane sisters in the 1942 Hitchcocks thriller "Saboteur".

Enjoy the second encounter, this time at a [edit:] Clipper car. Interesting to see a stone chip protection that isn't chromed. But the owner would have been better installed a heel protection too. Such a small body and what an amount of aplomb.

But it doesn,t look like a clipper to me. Notice the crease in the lower 12 inches of door and the welting on the back fender in addition to the rubber splash guard. could it be an olds or a buick?

John, with view to the Buick-like doorhandles in the chrome trim I must confess that your doubt is justified.

Both ladies make the posts worthwhile. However, while Harlow is often seen standing beside a Packard, this particular car appears to be a 1931 Cadillac.

Thanks West! A polite hint makes it easy to get over a losing streak. I won't give up. Actress Gilda Grey at driver's door next to an interesting spare wheel cover-cover.
According to the label the car is a 1927 Phaeton.

Cast a glance at the ups and downs of her life career.
