55 Caribbeans all had the hood support rod due to the huge increase in the weight of the hood for the Carib to accommodate the scoops. For 56 the entire hood stamping was new and lighter - no support rod.

The 2 barrel and the dual action pump were not stock Packard even on the small 320 Clippers in 55. I wonder if a Hash engine transplant found its way into the car. The brake fluid setup looks aftermarket -- or at least the jar is larger than the Packard option so might have been replaced. Seat belt mounting holes in door look correct but storing brackets look kind of crude to be factory. Packard didn't seem to work very hard on that belt setup so maybe they are original and just beat up. I would hope the brackets would have had more rounded corners than those appear to have and been chromed originally.

Let the ride decide-
I saw that tough looking 56 Executive that currently has 1 bid for $200. Appear too rough to justify a bid and $1000 transport. Still a rare car and the 2nd Executive 2 Door hardtop to pop up in ebay in one week. The other one ended with a Buy It Now of $2695 and I believe that's a good price.

That must be the $9.95 earl scheib dip tank special job. The $29.95 jobs were nothing to rave about but at least the painters tried to miss some of the side chrome. That poor Packard didn't even rate that.

That is about the most repulsive paint job I have ever seen on any car in recent memory. I'd have to wear a clown nose and a fright wig if I were to drive that think down the road. I guess the owner was trying to turn the 400 into a rod or a custom or something or another and he ran out of dough. Very strange.
