PackardDon. Can certainly understand how you feel when you see a car you once owned being ruined by a subsequent owner. I certainly learned something new today from you as I had never heard of Henney built service cars. I took another look at the ad photos and saw that the side windows on that Henney were blocked out, so it looked like a panel delivery. Never knew that Henney produced something like this. Funeral homes do need a vehicle to transport remains back to the parlor for embalming and preparation and you would not want the public to be able to see in, hence the blocked out side panels. A traditional hearse has side windows because you do want to be able to see the casket along with all of the funeral wreaths on the way to the cemetery. I once had a friend who was a funeral director, so I am somewhat familiar with the process. The service cars must be rare as I do not recall ever seeing one. I have seen Henney flower cars from this era and have photos of one in my collection from years ago.

If you view the 1948-1950 Henney-Packard parts book in the Literature section there is much reference to serice cars. Rather than being blanked out after the fact, the doors were apparently made that way. Pre-1951 service cars were not all that uncommon but a recently article in the Professional Car Society magazine about service cars said that no one had ever seen one from 1951-1954 which I suspect is due to their bodies all doing to military ambulances. that’s what mine originally was but some later owned added windows to the rear (fake) doors. I say fake because they have no handles and do not open, another military ambulance specification.

The '56 Executive is really really nice, but do these bring that kind of price? Not being critical, just trying to learn.

It would be a hard sell at that price. $3500 would get it out the door.
Main ding is the interior water damage. Pretty much impossible to repair on a budget and not have it look weird or non factory. It's not the worst I've seen (probably my own car is the worst I've seen on someone's actual project lol) but you WILL have to live with it. If you could afford to repair it you would buy a better one. Reminds me, is happy's 400 still for sale?

1955 Patrician 0001 is for sale. A project for someone brave... I have seen parts cars in better shape. Too bad it was not sold earlier or stored better.
