The difference in Parkard print ads and those of Pierce Arrow

Until I read about it, I didn't realize that the early Pierce Arrow print ads (a) had little to no information about the featured car, and (b) had the car image subordinate to the individuals. Often the car would be in the background or even partially obscured. Interesting marketing strategy.

PS: Look at the attached pic for an example of what I'm talking about.

How about this one? And what the hell is a Dursenberg?

Wow, the car is not even featured. I guess "Durensburg" figured that if you didn't know what a "Durensburg" was, you couldn't afford to buy one.

I knew if they quit teaching cursive writing, it would lead to not being able to read cursive either (sigh).
The real question is "What the Hell is a Parkard"?

But Randy, you have to admit that the "e" in question wasn't done quite right on the top, especially when you compare it to the other e's.

It is an "r" - look at the other "e"'s. This is I believe an error in the modern reproduction ads. The ACD company and their ad agency proofed their ads. A client would have a fit if you mispelled their name. There are a number of ads in this ad campaign that spell the name right.

It isn't printing it is cursive writing. Write your name three times and see if they are all identical. Sorry, but it is just common sense. Look at the real "r in Duesenberg.

I agree with Randy. The only difference in the first "e" and the others is the lead-in tail from the "u" goes up rather than straight over to the bottom.

I see it now too - no way the ad could have run misspelled

I'm still kicking myself for misspelling "Packard" in the subject line. I knew I was going to catch flack about it.

A typist I am not---obviously.
