What is this hole in my carburetor?

When I start my Clipper Deluxe gas squirts out of this hole. I am repeating this post because I don't see it here after I tried to post a photo. Is there a part that goes into this hole to stop gas from squirting out. It is not threaded and there is another one on the other side of the carb that does not leak.

Brenda, this is a duplicate of the question you asked on another post.

You may want to start a new post for each question you have or start project blog to keep all your questions together rather than cross-posting (double-posting). As this creates two lines of conversation and makes it harder for people to answer and people later to find those answers. Also, if you ask a question inside of someone else's post, unrelated to their post, it gets that post off topic (aka Thread-Jacking).

Just trying to keep things tidy, and make it easy for people to find stuff later on.

It's hard to tell, I looking back through my rebuild picks, I don't see any step when I remove that. But, from the outside, it looks like a check ball, but I could be just plugged from the inside. I would have to look at the rebuild sheet to confirm.

Here is what mine looks like:

yes there should be a plug just like the other side you mention. its like a small aluminum plug that is pressed in.

to get by. JB Weld. or have the carb looked at by a professional.

You are right. I believe I asked the question as a reply to another post and wanted the Subject line to gather more replies to my question. Now I know how it works.

Sorry it took so long to get this picture. Looks like there should be a metal ball in that hole. I don't know what is is though.

If it is leaking gasoline then go to a carburetor shop and they will have the small pellet that goes there. It is tiny. We just put it in and tapped it with a hammer to drive it in. No more leak. He didn't charge me a penny for it. Now I will use him when I do get it rebuilt. I found that auto parts don't have this fix, only a carb shop.

Brenda, can you show us a picture of your Packard? I for one would like to see it.
