Removing Stainless Steel Trim Piece

The right rear lower stainless steel trim piece on the car has a small dent in it. I want to remove it so I can hammer it out and polish it. I can get to some of the clips that hold it on the car, but there on some that are not readily accessible. What is the best way to remove the trim piece without messing up the car's paint or damaging the trim piece?

There are three removable clips held by a screw, accessible from the trunk. There are three other clips (held by screws) that you will have to remove the rear armrest on that side to gain access. After you have removed those screws the trim piece is snapped onto the remainder of the clips. I used a wooden paint stirrer to gently pry the trim piece off those remaining clips which are left attached to the quarter panel..

I should have said studs held by a nut - nuts removable from inside the car.

I recently bought a set of trim removal tools from Amazon. They are non-metallic and will not scratch. The kit has a variety of shapes and sizes to get almost any kind of trim loose. Intended for interior plastic trim, but should work for exterior metal trim too. JWL

Randy & John,

Thanks for your inputs. I've ordered a trim kit, which I could have already used in side the car. Should get it Monday and will start on the task then.

Again Thanks

I bought the Motivx Tools 11 pc. Trim Removal Set for $14.95. I find it useful for many prying purposes. JWL
