Just can't stay away

I see that you replaced the hoses. does the lower hose have the stiffening coil inside it?

If no stiffening coil the hose will collapse as it warms up as it is on the suction side. gets worse with more heat and engine speed.

The lower hose consists of a long metal tube with two short sections of hose on each end. No chance of collapse.

Yes they are, I have driven the car some and let it idle for 20 to 30 minutes without any problem. The addition of the temperature gauge and sender insures more reliable information than needle gauge.

It was the radiator,but I had checked and done all the items listed in the OVERHEATING lists either before or after. It was a good suggestion and made good sense to clean the tube and water pump after getting the radiator rodded out. Also a good back flush. No need to put sediment back into the clean radiator.I replaced the temp gauage to be sure I could watch the actual temp. Runs at 180 to 190.
