Guys, I have to replace both the solenoids for my torsion ride system, I cannot find them however. Does anybody know some cross numbers for these solenoids?

I think they are still available from some of the national Packard vendors, but a functional replacement that has good similarity in appearance to the originals is Cole-Hersee 24046. Google Cole-Hersee (same folks that make the high quality battery disconnect), they are all over the globe.

Though they look similar to some starter solenoids, don't go that way, they are wired differently internally!!

Randy, I've got a slow mind, but fast fingers on the keyboard; hence my propensity for occasional errors so thanks for the double-check.

i used those on my rebuild also and they worked fine.

Are the solenoids the same as compensator solenoid switches? I just bought a limit switch and two compensators from Kanter. I wasn't aware of any substitute that might have been less expensive. The originals were OK until last year, so I guess I'll never need to replace the new ones.

UNLESS YOU ALSO ENTER IT IN THE PARTS X-REF DATABASE. It is not currently there.

Entering this sort of thing in the database is critical to easily accessing the information when it is desperately needed.

We had a recent entry of rear axle bearings and seals that also should be entered....

Going a step further, I would ask everyone who has entered specific parts numbers in the past to be sure those numbers are in the X-ref.

Hey guys, we had this discussion a while ago, I purchased the solenoids and rebuilt the torsion ride system, put it all back together and had some issues. With the compensator unhooked when you ground the battery the torsion ride starts to work. It is the solenoids, the number you guys posted is a closed solenoid which I think means that the circuit is normally completed until something unhooks it. Is this the correct solenoid, I thought it was supposed to be a open solenoid like a starter switch.

Is this the one you bought? Many have used them with no issue. They are spec'd as normally open contacts. With all wires disconnected, are you saying there is continuity between the two large terminals with solenoid just sitting? If so, it's defective.

The difference between this and a starter solenoid is the control signal. This one has one side of the coil going to the terminal coming from battery and needs a ground on the small terminal to operate. Typical starter solenoid has the coil grounded and needs a voltage.

One possibility -- do you have the optional manual control up/down switch? I have bumped that to one of the on positions and been startled by leveler operating when I connected the battery so many times it isn't funny.

Another possibility is the mounting. I don't remember how the 55 solenoids go on the limit switch plate but is the buss bar from battery going to the battery side of solenoid so the control coil is properly connected.
