When I rebuilt my 51 200, I had the clutch redone. The pilot bearing is a weird one specific to the Packards. Call Fred Kanter.

So '52 should be taking a Chevrolet or GMC clutch that is 1-1/8" and not a ford that is 1-1/16"? I had been looking at several chevy clutches, but several were 11"or 12" in diameter, where I need a 10". I'll have to do more searching around on autozone, o'reilly's, rock auto.
Thanks BDeB, -Garrett P.S. I went out with a better, more accurate measurement tool, and sure enough 1-1/8"! Thanks!

Yes, Chevy or GMC (Borg & Beck) disc and Ford (Long) pressure plate. Don't know if there is a common release bearing that will fit. Good luck.

So...
Last week I did plenty of researching on clutches that will work on the '52. I came up with a chevy clutch part# BBD3425. I also took two of the shift rods out, due to cotter pins being broken off inside of them. Drilled the old pins out and primed the rods, then coated with a matte clear. Also did an old trick Ross suggested to me, to accommodate my budget. Drilled a small hole in the side of my throw out bearing and packed it with grease, then epoxied the hole. Today I ordered a new pressure plate from Speedway Motors item# 91015657. Both items look like they will show up on Wednesday, so work will likely begin on Thursday. -Garrett

I'm mostly a lurker, actually nearly always a lurker, but I've had good luck getting Rambler clutches rebuilt at Tennessee Clutch and Supply in Nashville, TN. They are reasonably priced and turn around time by mail is fast. Nice folks too. They threw in a clutch alignment tool on my last clutch job, free of charge. Rambler sixes generally use the little 9-inch Borg&Beck clutch. V8s use a 10-inch generally. I'm not affiliated with the store. Just putting in a good word about them. Good luck. Joe

Hey Guys!
Pressure plate came in today as expected, and she is a perfect match. Unfortunately, my clutch disk did not arrive today. I've been told it might come in Thursday or Friday, so the wait continues. I would really like to get everything installed before Halloween night, so I can go park at Sonic and get some corn dogs! -Garrett

Hey Guys!
Got my clutch disk in today, so work will finally begin! The disk is a pretty good match except for the lack of two springs. I might get as far as having the disk and pressure plate mounted to the flywheel by the end of the day. Stay tuned for updates... -Garrett P.S. By the way, does anyone have some tips for getting the pilot bearing out? It is stuck in the crankshaft recess.

P.S. By the way, does anyone have some tips for getting the pilot bearing out? It is stuck in the crankshaft recess. That's a tough one. The last time I had this happen on a Pontiac 4-speed crankshaft, I had to cut the outer bearing race with a small disc grinder and then using a hammer & small chisel knock the race out, taking care not to knick the crank itself. The following picture is what I was faced with, but unfortunately, I don't have pix of the procedure I just described. Good luck! And wear eye protection, too! Craig

springs probably produce same force as the others on the original, so no worries on two missing i bet.
as far as the bearing.....blind hole bearing puller/remover. you can rent it at autozone...maybe they will have a size big enough to get it out. Hank Attach file: (4.27 KB) (26.25 KB)
