Packard "Country Club" Club Sedan

I just bought a 1940 120 Club sedan with no hood ornament, running boards and with the chromed words Country Club attached to the body. Originally the car came from Bakersfield
CA. I was told by the owner that the car was an x body which I have never heard of.
Can anyone out there tell me about this esoteric car

never heard of one, but it could be a dealer special. Can you post some photos of it?

The x could just refer to the paint code which would be black.

Dear Fog:

Running boards were standard in 1940 so the car has been modified. Supposedly Boham and Schwartz of Pasadena were doing those jobs. If you go far back in time there was another 1940 120 - a convertible sedan - with the same treatment. It was pictured in a 53 CCCA magazine and was owned by a CCCA old timer. That car was claimed to have been done by Boham and Schwartz.

Thanks for the info. There is another club sedan being sold at vault cars which is almost identical. The owner also said Bohman and Schwarz were the modifiers.

So, for those waiting for pictures, I guess the runningboardless car looks like this:

vaultcars.com/1940-packard

Did the OP say there were 2 cars from the same (re)seller and both were modified by Bohman & Schwartz? What are the odds of that happening?

Right now there is another thread going about woodgraining. Take a look at the dash photo below. Lord have mercy.

Click onto the photos below to zoom in and get a better look.

Please, put the paintbrush down -- step away from the car and no one will get hurt.

Could another car be the source? Below a Country Club emblem from a 1952 Nash Rambler Airflyte.

I too was somewhat overwhelmed by the wood graining BUT never having owned such a Packard, I just closed my eyes and pretended I was in my '55 400.
