Do you remember which accessory catalog? I'm kind of curious to see what they came up with.
Don't remember seeing any cup holders Packard offered except the so called "drink holder" in senior V8 models. Those are mentioned in the 56 fact book and was the inside glove box doors on Packard models equipped with the plastic tray. When glove box was opened Packard pointed out a couple of "round depressions where you can place a drink while you snack". My definition of cup holder doesn't fit that implementation or at least is certainly different. Did they have something better?

I have an example of one of these out of my now-scrapped 1956 400 "Rust-mobile". I saved the glove box with the "drink holder" just for grins. If you were stopped at, for example, a Drive In Movie of the era, it might work. Otherwise, you're asking for a wet disaster as Newton's Law of action-reaction works on it when in motion. Craig

When I removed the remnants of the windlace from my Clipper it appeared that a wire mount windlace was used. Would that be original?

Worked all weekend in the garage on various items. First, I got the rest of the windlace all installed. Next I installed the carpets that Ross send. They look great. I will probably find some more of this material to do the truck in as well.
Next I moved on to installing the insulation on the kick panels and c-pillars. Kick panels made of carpet with panel backing were then installed. Carpets look a little dusty in my pics from the dust on the garage floor and my shoes. A quick vacuum and all was good. The front vent windows were disassembled, and the frames media blasted and painted. New rubber, division seal and rigid channel was then installed and the unit rivited back together. Assemble was then installed into door with the rain deflector. The front seat side covers were reinstalled and the seat track springs adjusted. Finally I assembled the external sunvisor and had my kids help me hold it against the car so I could see how the visor would look. I may hold off on installing it just yet. It really chaanges the lines on the car, and right now, I am not sure if I want that. Plus installing requires drilling holes in the roof and a-pillar trim. After spending that much money on paint, just can do that right now and risk being unhappy with the look. So I'll store the visor for the time been. Also in the process of doing the vent windows, I think I figured out why some have a "wind" driven whistle sound, especially after replacing the frame rubber. It has to do with how high the vent window sits compared the shape of the rubber.
When I reassembled mine just like they were I noticed a small hole/gap on the bottom right near where the pivot shaft is. No matter how much you tighten the bottom bolt, it wont make a difference. That just makes the window hard to open. But on the shaft there are two "keyed" spacers that act as a rotation stop for the window. With both of those installed, the window sits up a little too high for the shape of the new rubber. If you remove one of the stop/spacers, the window will sit a tad bit lower, and the gap is eliminated. I really think that small hole/gap is the source of the whistle people get when the seals are old (shrink), or new aftermarket rubber is installed (slightly different shape). Hope this helps if you notice a gap in a similar place on yours and have the vent window whistle symptom.

looking good, though choice on the visor though.
i like it either way personally. i think it adds a little more style with it on though. and a bit more sport with it off.
