ok.

after thinking about it, i think brass would be better. need to tighten that cap pretty tight so no leaks,

if you guys can get your hands on cheap brass, 1-1/2 x 4 inches long.

send it to me and i will make them up, and send back the brass i don;t use.

and if you want to keep cap on,, brass will look better, i drill the center hole 7/16ths for 1/4 pipe fitting.

i you send the brass, just make a donation to kevs site, we will call it sq.

Riki,

Do you happen to know what size and type the large thread is used on the BTV filler cap. The replacement you have made looks great however it's a little impractical to send brass bar to the US from overseas so I was going to try and get one made at my work. I'm guessing it's probably UNF of some size...?

Cheers,

Dave.

Why use brass. Use aluminum. Brass can be difficult to drill and tap. Requires a different drill angle. Brass is common to hang up drill bits.

And then find some way to plug the vent hole in the OEM CAP.

Pack Dave uk,,

no problem,,

i have the alum, that was my first try,

Ross gave me the size,

1-1/4-18

let me know,,

v8 i did that with one cap, but this is to save org cap.

you can get 1-1/4 -18 bolts too,, its an order thing, so i didn't go that route.

There is a gentleman (Windel?) that is always at the Salado TX meet, that makes a remote filler setup for the Packard MCs. Based on your MC, it comes with a new cap, tubing, and a cast aluminum reservoir that is mounted on the firewall.

I have one of these setups, but just have not got around to installing it yet. But I can take pictures of the parts if anyone is interested.

Basically the cap is threaded on the top to take a tubing fitting, and there is no vent hole on the MC cap, as the vent hole is relocated to the cap on the remote reservoir.
