Were there any all white 55 & 56 Caribbean conv. from the factory? I've seen one over the years but didn't know if the color had been changed to all white.

The one I saw was actually a 55 and I liked it, didn't think I would but I did. Of course it had the multi-colored interior which looked good contrasting against that all white exterior.

I'm not aware that any 1956 Caribbean hardtops were painted all white, but the convertibles that were are #s 1021, 1084, 1085, 1086, 1087, 1191, 1205 and 1218. No.s 1084 and 1085 also had an all-white seating surfaces w/leather on both sides, Trim Code 37.

I don't have data for the 1955 Caribbeans.

I believe Jay Leno has an all-white 55 Caribbean.

Well, after reading this, now I want to see an all white Caribbean just out of curiosity-HA!

Which is considered more desirable? The 55 or 56 Caribbean conv.?

I my humble estimation the 1956, they made fewer units of the convertibles,I personally prefer the styling--but that is a personal taste thing, others may disagree and be perfectly right.

I feel that the '56s are mechanically better cars, others may have different experiences and opinions.

Here's #1084 during a restoration a while back. Photo courtesy of the Beard Bros., the current owners. This was originally the Jordan/Texas car.

My choice for year would be 1956 as quite a few of the mechanical teething problems of the 1955 models were addressed and improved, most noteably the transmission and torsion level electrics. Also the build quality was very much improved. One thing many would agree on is that the front seat comfort was better in the 55s. But if you like the looks of the 55 better, go for it.

THanks for the quick pic. I like the 55 better just by the looks but that's just me. I also like a 55 Crown Vic better than a 56 so maybe I'm just stuck in 1955--HA!

How do you tell if a 55 & 56 Caribbean conv. was completely white from the factory? Where is the paint trim code located?
