Both the 2601 and 2531 would have originally had the same distributors; parts book calls for either A/L IGP 4502C or either of 2 Delco units, 1110836 or 1110841. All 3 units were essentially interchangeable. Pretty easy to tell an A/L from a Delco, their internals are quite different, especially the breaker plate.

If there is a movable contact button in the center of the cap it is an Autolite. The rotor will just have a flat spot for it to ride upon. Delcos will have a fixed contact and a spring loaded contact on the rotor.
