I bought a '69 Dart Swinger when they first came out. 340ci with 4 bbl, Torqueflite trans, and 383 posi rear end. Only problem was it had a "sweep second hand" as a fuel gauge! And gas was cheap in '69 and '70. Ended up trading it in on a new '71 Triumph Spitfire. Wish I still had both of them....

thought i forgot about this blog didn't you guys.

i started sanding on the Packard again. using my orbital i bought and the wet sanding pads. works SO much better then by hand and WAY faster....obviously.

paint should turn out pretty darn smooth....its already flat at 360 grit and i have all the way to 4000 to go to.

dart....started leaking from the oil pan....guess i didn't get the seal on right. whoops.

i'll have 2 weeks off soon and i'll be working on the Packard again. i need to start it and let it run again, been way too long.....but my battery took a dump.

Glad your back at it. I am two weeks back into the nightly routine. Hope to have the passenger body parts finished by this weekend, flip the car around to do the drivers side then lift the body off. Hope Keegan gets going again soon too, waiting to see his progress...

I have no idea what happened to Keegan, I PMed him moons ago and no reply. Hopefully nothing happened to him.

I got some sanding done, paint is coming out darn smooth.

I got this 20x30 poster collage for my Dad on Father's day.

I'm finding it hard to be motivated, this is not my favorite part of the restoration. I'm more mechanical. I like to fix things with my hands that actually have a mechanical function. so this sanding is boring me, enough that I'm thinking about taking it to some paint shop and having them sand it for me. I don't know....I also don't like others touching it, plus they'd probably just tell me how bad my clear job is, lol!

I really want to get exhaust on it, the new Kanter gas tank, and the brakes done, so I can actually semi drive it in a circle in the cul-de-sac. blugh...this is taking forever.

yeah it feels good to be given the old girl some attention again. good therapy.

smoothed finished out the hood and the driver's fender in 360 tonight. then smoothed out the trunk lid. passenger's side of the trunk I had to do with 180 and then go back with 360. it took a bit to smooth it out with the driver's side of the trunk and it still could use some more, but my 360 pad is giving up the ghost and I only have 1 more. need to order more for the roof and passenger's side of the car.

here is a pick of the trunk lid smoothed out and how it compares to the passenger's rear fender that has had zero sanding done.

by the time I get to 4000 grit, it should be pretty shinny again.

p.s. I hate sanding.....AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

FINALLY!!! i'm done with the 360 grit on the car. now time to move to 500 grit. blugh! this sux!

when i got done i had some fun by putting the old tailights in. i actually kinda like them and may cruise around with them if they shine good enough! kinda goes along with the theme.
