My name is Tom and I m trying to find out how to trace a previous owner records on a 1947 Packard Super clipper I have. Can anyone give me any info on doing this?

Somethings are often easier said than done. I tried to trace the history of my 1955 Clipper and only made it back to the owner who bought it in 1982. DMVs do not usually hold onto records of cars past a certain point. If you know the places where your Clipper was owned, you might be able to get find out the names of owners, but that is a long shot. You might also try your local Packard clubs -- often members might remember previous owners. If you can find one and contact him or her, that person might still have a bill of sale, which will give you the name of the seller.

Just be realistic and remember that since Packard dealerships no longer exist, you won't likely find exactly when and from what dealership your car was originally sold. Unless a car has been in a single family for a long, long time, good luck.

You might contact The Packard Club roster keeper for you car, a long shot, maybe it was entered in years ago.
