metal cable straps

Am wondering if anyone has found a source for these old style metal cable ties or straps.

I've found modern stainless actual cable ties with a locking head and some straps similar to these that are wide at the end and used for labeling wire or other bundles. Nothing like shown in the photo with original slot and narrow length used only for strapping in the days before plastic cable ties were common. Probably not made anymore but would be nice. Modern cable ties look so tacky when something like this should be there.

I never did a thorough search for a source but when I needed a pair I just cut them out with kitchen shears from sheet brass shim stock. I do forget how I cut the slot but as I recall, about 15 minutes or so each to make them.

Restoration Supply:

Aluminum ELE172 $3.00
Brass ELE244 $4.50

They have two eyelets on the end, if you want to make them look the same, just snip off the 2nd eyelet.

There is a drawing of what they look like in their current catalog. Page 12, top left corner.

Pricey, but available.

Thanks Kev. For some reason I never think of them having anything made for cars past the brass era.
