I'm going to trust James on this one. Some industrious person could easily produce an adapter to adapt a more common bearing.

REgarding post #8 and #10 above:
Is that to imply that the Packard V8 used in the Hawk has a different pilot breaing than the PackardV8 used in the Packards??? I don't know but highly unlikely. 64Avanti. What is the OD and ID of the bearing needed???

"64Avanti. What is the OD and ID of the bearing needed???"
The T85 snout measures .590 so the bearing ID would need a couple of thou clearance? The bore in the back of the crank should be very close to 1.840 and is likely the same on all the V8 engines. The bearing definitely has an interference fit to the crank. Gosh, this is fun. If I could have just retrieved the old (but mint) bearing, this would not have been a problem.

Ill see if I can get to my crank with my 352 that is on a stand and get some bearing measurements.
I would find it Highly unlikely that Packard had a proprietary bearing being manufactured solely for their V8 platform. If so, then they would not be made available after the fact to "specialist" to peddle a couple a year. The amount of having "special" bearing made would not be cost effective for the small amount of Packard repairs going on a year. Just sayin, to many years in bearing industry and Automotive to buy that. Is it an odd ball? most likely it is hence the hard time finding readily available.

From a 1965 Delco bearing catalog
Does a H.D. drive end generator bearing from a Chrysler cross to the clutch pilot bearing? The numbers are the same. Can anyone confirm?

I believe that The Delco catalog may be a misprint. The Packard parts lists show the same number under Group 3.2092 as 421731 for 1948 to 1954 and also 1955-56 so should be ND 7109 for all.

ok. let us assume that the Delco book IS a misprint for the packard pilot application. Then how does anyone arrive at WHICH number (the 7109 or the 3204) is the misprint???
Let me put it another way; maybe the 7109 is the misprint and the 3204 is the corect for all years??

A while back I was looking for an oddball bearing and came upon a website that could supply(or produce) any bearing given height,id,od specs. should have saved to favs. Troy I see your point but it is poss The bearing was specd for the appl and after the company went bust production from the bearing manuf ceased due to eccessive stock already produced and limited need down the road. This is why specialists who are aware of a limited use items buy up NOS stock from all sources when avail.
