My oil filler tube on my 6 cylinder engine became loose. I tapped in with a block of wood but is leaking oil. Can someone recommend what has worked to seal this where it mounts in the block. I thought about some type of silicone but feel it would loosen and I'm concerned about keeping it from entering the block if it should fragment with age. Perhaps I'm a little too cautious. Has anyone had a good fix for this?

I would certainly not use any type of sealant like silicone that could get into the crankcase, you might try one of the Locktite products but your tube is apparently distorted at the end where it enters the block. The best solution is to try to correct the size/shape of the tube end - originally they were just pressed quite snugly into the block.

I agree with O_D, get the end of the filler tube restored to proper size, or as close as you can get it.

I have also used a Permatex gasket sealant on the end that goes into the engine to help seal the tube to the engine block. I forget which Permatex, but one that dries hard would be my choice.

Make sure you get it installed in the correct orientation so the breather opening is facing the fan. There may also be a flap on the bottom of the tube to keep oil from being thrown up into the tube from engine rotation. If you get the breather facing the right direction, this should also take care of the flap being correct.
