Ross, to stimulate the conversation here comes a contemporary marine advert, contributed by Dave (O_D).
"From Yachting magazine, date unknown but the engines pictured were produced from 1947 thru 1951. Available in either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation with several different gear ratios, in either 6 or 12 volt."[O_D]

Hi Guscha
"Steve, I'm no expert but thought it would need a rear eggcrate grille for being a Deluxe. Is that wrong?" At this point, no eggcrate grilles were specified for Super Eight Deluxe models. In fact, as Mr Neal's fine book reveals, the complete 23rd Series lwb program was very much in flux. A significant number of left-over 22nd Series lwb cars remained unsold. Apparently, they were very slow sellers. After reducing the planned 23rd Series lwb production down to fewer cars, eventually all further production of those models was abandoned. That decision even resulted in write-off losses for unused parts and material specifically needed to continue that production. This point answers the question why there were no 1951 24th Series lwb included in the model line. Being burned by losses on the last run of such models was enough. Interestingly, the Chrysler Crown Imperial lwb models sold quite well for 1950-52. But, if one didn't want a Cadillac 75, Crown Imperials were the only other choice. Steve

Steve, thanks for the clarification. My request was based upon the description at the Model Info which consistently reads for the 2370 and 2371:
"...The Super Deluxe had front and rear eggcrate grilles..." Well, your detailed explanation confirms, that a correct identification requires more than my knowledge of general character. Ladies and Gentlemen! The buffet is open and it might be of interest that there is enough for everyone. [pictures source:LIFE] Click to enlarge!

Hi Guscha
Who are those two old boys in #29 & #30 and what are they singing? Steve PS: "...The Super Deluxe had front and rear eggcrate grilles..." That would apply only to the 127" wb models later after they decided to upgrade the appearance of the Super Eight Deluxe models......to use up some of the parts slated for Custom Eights after that model run build out had been curtailed.

John, there's more to come! After two flights, I arrived at the hotel in an East European industrial city, which is easy to classify as bleak windy spot. How good to have a window into another world.
While the base of hopes to find a familar face at old photographs might not be very strong but it is still an alluring prospect. Be prepared, that some of the pics are mirror-inverted. Number 32 has to be flipped for sure. I will do it later, my glasses are broken (varifocals, a costly affair) and I sit in front of a small laptop with replacement glasses from a DIY market. Thanks, Gerd. Your description sounds like it is a bleak place. I can somewhat imagine how it looks and it must be even more daunting in winter. I'll keep an eye peeled as you post more photos. Interesting, photo #36 is the first one I have seen with people smoking. After dinner relaxation. Take care, stay warm, and keep safe.
