Beautiful. My brother had one of those for a while. I much prefer those 1940 parking lights vs the correct versions.

West, parking (fender) lights as shown on John's car were available for the 1938 seniors and I always assumed but never checked that they were available 1937-39.

You have confused me, David. I'm pretty sure those were introduced for the 1940 line. The ones available from 1937-39 were not nearly as attractive.

I just downloaded the 1939 Packard approved accessories catalog. It shows the earlier style fender lights. The ones on the blue 1937 Packard above are definitely from 1940, although you see them on a lot of Packards 1937-39.

I can't find the reference I thought I had so I guess I was in error, thanks for setting the record straight, West.

I don't care for parking lights on those cars. I think it breaks up the fender line the same way as fender lights on the 56 Studebaker Hawk.

If the reason for having them is turn signals, one thing we used to do was use the Trippe lights as turn signals along with a heavy duty flasher.

The problem with today's traffic is I doubt anybody sees the puny lights on old cars anyway, so I would go with the old style ugly trailer lights. Yes they are ugly, but at least they are bolt ons.

Regardless of the authenticity of Mr. Pushbutton's parking lights, it is a beauty! Well done.

I don't like fender lights on 1935 - 39 Packards either. Everyone adds them now, but when these cars were first "discovered" and collected back in the 1950's and 60's they never had them. Look at old CCCA magazines from the 1950's & 60's - you never saw fender lights on late 30's Packards. People started adding them in the 1980's, especially after the one well known Classic Car accessory makers started reproducing them. Yes, I know they were in the original accessory catalog (someone even posted a picture of it for me on here in a past thread), but very few of these cars had them originally. I have a 1937 Twelve, and believe me, my car will never ever have fender lights added to it. Sorry, but I don't like Trippe lights either. The factory accessory Road & Fog lights I do like however, as they do not look to big for the front of the car like Trippes do.

By the way, does anyone know if the blue victoria pictured above was owned by Charles Crawley / MBNA back in the early 2000's? They had one in the same colors.
