Hi

Three '55 Patrician here in the Northeast, two for $5,500 one for $9K:
Tan and brown:

White and green, pretty, looks like a real bargain:

Copper and white, saw it in Kelly's Museum, Goldsboro, PA twenty years ago, great example:

I called on that Patrician in Delaware and from the engine number the seller gave me it appears to have a 320 instead of a 352. A real bummer IMO.

If the Delaware Patrician has as good a body, interior and mechanicals as the photos would leave you to believe, then the asking price is not too far out of line. You can do a 352 conversion for a whole lot less than doing body and interior work. With the correct and good running engine a price of somewhere around $10K would not be out of line. I think you would still be above water after an engine replacement. In the mean time you could drive and enjoy it while sourcing and preparing a new engine. Just something to think about.

Hi Packard0

JW is right, if all other aspects check out as good and correct, replacing the 320 with a 352 would be a very cost-affective way to a great Patrician for less than current market prices. Sale of the 320 would offset some of the cost of the 352 as well.

Steve

Might as well throw in a couple Clippers:

A '54 Clipper Deluxe, driver condition:

A '57 Clipper Town Sedan, 39K miles, looks great except for bumper chrome:

The seller of the Delaware Patrician also said it has 109K miles and to his knowledge the tranny has never been rebuilt :( Another bummer and fairly big cost to do.

Well he's asking a very reasonable price for a good running car. I'd rather buy this than a fixer upper that's priced slightly under this one. Cars that haven't ran in forever and parked in the pasture needing total restoration are priced for half of the asking price of this one. You can't go wrong on this car in my opinion, and if it was all perfect and the guy asked $15k you wouldn't buy it to begin with cause it's to expensive.

If it was all perfect from my experience it would probably be priced over $20K. Why do I say that? Because I've looked at quite a few 55-56 Patricians that were nice but definitely not perfect and they averaged between $15K-$18K. If I did find a perfect Patrician for $15K I'd buy it in a minute but so far perfect seems to have many definitions.

The last 2 post advertise the same body style 2 years apart, and look at the $100k+ price difference! The 34 looks immaculate and the 36 looks like it is pretty good but does not look as good as the 34.
1936 V12 should be more scarce (682 made vs 960 for 1934), but 34's are always priced considerably higher than 36. Is it because of it being the last year of that body style, or is there another reason?
