I'm replacing my old 6v battery with a red topped Optima battery, and of course they aren't the same size.

I was hoping people that have changed to optima batteries can share what they have done to secure the battery into the tray. If you would post a picture, that would be awesome as well!

Here is one installation that looks quite nice and is secure.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... .php?post_id=154756#forumpost154756 The base is commercially available but doing a search for Optima batteries in the forums will turn up some other installs with different mounting methods.

Gary Osko (Corona, CA) sells a plastic battery case that disguises a 6v optima to make it look like an original battery, which then should fit without changes in the original location.

Is his case for the square battery or the Clipper bodied long narrow style battery?

I "think" he carries both styles. But, best to check with him.

I have the long, narrow style battery, but didn't see any battery boxes for those. Just the standard 12v size.

I ordered a tray mount that holds the battery in place from the bottom, instead of from the top. This reduces any issues with possible grounding out, etc.
