Hi Let the Ride Decide, Yes, I have researched and found several Service Counselor and Service Technical Bulletins with the 1940 Packard air conditioner theme, initially labeled "Weather-Conditioner. Dated from 3-1-40 through 1944, I plan to incorporate as many of them as possible. Also, memos to dealers from the head office announced such subjects as the new air conditioning accessory, pricing information, modification to the evaporator cabinet to delete the heating coils, and sales restrictions to senior Packards. The 1940 Packard served as the first salvo in the cool comfort we all now enjoy. Thanks, Archiveman2977

Hello bkazmer, You mentioned the bypass line for the cellarette's ice cube trays. Fascinating story about the cellarette. Do you have any literature on the cellarette accessory? I would appreciate copies. Also, there were two memos about the methylene chloride substitution for Freon, the last one in 1944. Thanks, Archiveman2977

Very interesting accessory. Wonder how many were sold?
I do remember seeing several 1940 Packards with air conditioning, none with the Cellarette option. Would have been quite an novelty just to have air conditioning in 1940 let alone having the car equipped to make ice water and ice cubes! Please keep us updated as you find more information on this subject.

Hi JW, Thanks for the pics. It looks like a 1940 180 with AC. Do you remember the event name? Thanks, Archiveman2977

56th AACA Texas Tour held in Fredericksburg in May 2009. Yes, the Packard is a 160 Touring Sedan.
