You are telling me the reverse switch on the top rear of the transmission on your car is "hot" even with the ignition off ?

That is odd - I've owned pre '37 Seniors and NONE did that; had they done that, I would have done a little re-wiring !

Yes - of course I am familiar with how the hand-brake works on "rope brake" Packards ! I trust you are aware that it is a wise practice to occasionaly let a little (NON GUMMING...like a gun oil, sewing machine oil, or 3 in 1 oil) run down the little shaft that connects the button on top of the hand-brake lever with the little "pawl" on the bottom......

Yes - of course I agree with you a battery cut-off is a wise idea. As a side-note, being something of a mean-spirited bully and sadist, I do leave my Packard's electrical system "hot" at car shows, just to show my clock and radio still work.....!

You didn't know ? O.K...I admit..having a little fun here...but it is the truth !

There was no Packard Super Eight for 1937 production on! For some reason, Packard elected to drop the 384. cu. in. "torque monster" at the end of 1936 production.

Yes, Packard committed a FRAUD. Stuck that dinky little 319 cu. in "Standard Eight" in there...and CALLED it a Super Eight!

No matter how loud you read the words "Super Eight" on the hub-caps, and scream it to the world....it is still a STANDARD eight....!

O.K...I will be fair...Packard ran that famous 25,000 mile test to introduce 1935 production ( with the change over to "insert" connecting rod bearings) , running wide open at 90+ mph...with a STANDARD eight....!

Good question as to the wood. The most difficult-to-repair would be what the front doors hang on - pretty complex curves. Hopefully...someone painted the heck out of the wood before upholstering, so maybe no problem at all (provided they get the upholstery off quickly so everything can dry out).

I can tell you from my own contact with...oh...let's say a few .....Senior pre-war bodies....their wood got wet and then dried out down thru the years....yes...under the worst conditions you see wood-rot. In this particular case, even if the wood in that thing is original, and even if it did get wet that one time....my experience with pre-war bodies is it WILL dry out without ill effect.

But I do agree with the other posters...even if the water isn't salty or otherwise has a high mineral content...that car is going to have to come COMPLETELY apart to avoid damage...and I mean COMPLETELY...dash instruments...transmission...wheel bearings...EVERYTHING
