Perhaps you lost the ground when reinstalling. Try a secure ground before you move on to other suspects.

Thank you for the reminder. I was going to clip a wire to the tank and frame to try that

Looking for mor advice. Grounded tank and made no difference to fuel gauge. Somebody told me if I took power wire from pump and grounded it, the gauge would read full? Is there a fuse?

Wire from the pump?
The original pump is mechanical up on the engine. If you ground the wire coming from the gauge it should read full, do not do that for a few moments though. If the doesn't work then the problem is in the gauge cluster.

Thank you sir. I meant wire from sending unit. I will try that later in the week. Partially installed an oil filter canister today. Just need to add supply line and the actual filter.

Also look in the trunk between the left taillight and center of car for the spot where the wire exits thru the trough at the back of the floor. Follow the wires and you should find black plastic connectors. It may be anywhere -- even by the tail light but if not there look under the car in the same area. There is a connector for the license lights and another joins a short piece of wire coming from the sender to the main loom. That connector could have been pulled apart.
