I am working with a very knowledgeable mechanic in finishing a restoration of a 37 115c 2dr convertible. The pinion seal is leaking and I was going to have him change it. A question has come up I ordered a 37 pinion seal from one of the major Packard suppliers it looks different from the one I have currently installed on the car. The pinion seal on the my Packard looks like a seal from a 36 120 model. Could that be the case? If anyone has pictures of their pinion seal on a 36 or 37 JR to compared to. Thanks I wanted to make sure I have the right parts.

The 37 pinion seal. I have replaced my 37 115 coupe pinion seal and what you see in back of the yolk is a thin metal shield that holds your smaller pinion seal. Be careful not to bend it . Dave

Thanks, so the real pinion seal is below this piece of metal that I and my mechanic thought was the pinion seal. Am I understanding this correctly. Thanks James

Yes, there is a separate felt ring and a seal that is pressed in to the larger outer housing.
