Identification of Bonnet(Hood) Ornament?

I've been asked to identify the bonnet(hood) ornament in the attached photos. As I'm not an expert in these thought I'd call on the collective widom here to help me out. I'm thinking "aftermarket", but what do I know?
 Guy who asked the qustion advised this: "1940 - approx - Packard chrome swan".Besides the ornament, what about the base? What might that fit? EDIT -  Some of the photos display somewhat "skew whiff", probably taken with a cell phone.  for the speedy reply Bryan(?).Just had to check, a guy gave me a similar ornament only 5 days ago after I identified it as aftermarket. Then this one turns up and I start to second guess my original identification
