Hello All, Been awhile but i have been building a 42x70 man cave in northern Idaho to retire at and work on my cars. I am wondering how to tell if i have a original fuel pump on the motor???? what did they come with? and how do i tell if i have one or one similar?????. If its not original or the same type i will get one from Kanter etc. But if i have a original\original type then i will get it rebuilt, who is a good reputable fuel pump rebuilder????

Thanks Pat

The original pump is an AC single acting Type AT which has a glass bowl and would have the number 7403 stamped on one side of the mounting flange.

Well i finally took the fuel pump off, here are some pics.

It looks to be correct it has a glass bowl with "AC" in the bottom.

Has anyone cleaned these glass bowls up its not cracked or anything but isn't real clear.
Also is there a filter that's supposed to go in the bowl??? if not did they have a filter?

And im not sure the bolts are correct they have "ASP' stamped on the head and they are drilled for saftey wiring, not sure why??? you would not be able to wire tie one bolt to the other. Is this normal

The bolts are safety wired due to the uses of fiber washers and inserts to insulate the pump from the block. Also a thick gasket is used.

Oh didn't know that!!! So I have done my fair share of safety wire where is each bolt wired too??? The inserts are still there but I didn't check the washers to see if they are fiber...... it did have a thick gasket, but it was brittle......do I need to reuse it????

The bolt heads are safety-wired to each other.

Yes, the spacer is important for two reasons. First, it's part of the thermal insulation package to decrease the propensity for vapor lock. And secondly it establishes the positioning of the pump arm with respect to the camshaft lobe. If your spacer/insulator block is beyond reuse and you can't source one, easy enough to make one from some suitable polymeric material.

Thanks Owen, I have safety wired a ton on jet engines, I'm going to have to look at that close to devise away to wire tie them. You mention the spacer on the pump to block, how thick should it be??? I just want to make that I do have a correct spacer.

Thanks Pat

I removed and cleaned the fuel pump from my '40 110 this past summer. Had been sitting for 30 years. Cleaned up pretty well with '409', but the bowl was a different story.

Used oven cleaner on it, let it soak awhile and it's sparkling.
