What about this onesteelerubber.com/solenoid-plunger-boot-60-0567-21 Steele lists dimensions of the finished piece so you might compare to yours and see if it fits. If so, check some of the GM vendors for the cars listed in the matching vehicles to see if it is available in Canada.

I spent most of the morning calling dealers and the few restoration shops locally here to no avail. Max Merritt says they can source them so I will go that route , I need a few pan gaskets that can't be had locally anyways.

Read your post about using a 1/4" stand off to make the tool for removing the headlight switch. But would have to buy a bag of 100 from a local supplier. They don't sell separately. I'll just keep plugging away, hopefully things will fall into place

If you know someone with a lathe buy a piece of hex stock. Have it drilled a little over 1/8 inch. Takes a sec to do.

2 inches long is plenty. Use a small crescent wrench.

I do know someone getting a lathe..................but not having any success(yet) in finding a pc of stock. Unless it's special ordered and min 10' long. I was hoping to save a few bucks but perhaps searching for someone that makes the tool will be the solution

Riki has a good suggestion and some better stocked hardware stores carry hex rod although not many. You might even find a coupling nut which would work although most of those have a 5/16 hex width. If you have any hobby stores that cater to the RC plane or model car crowd they frequently have standoffs and hex rod.

You actually only need a length of 1 inch or even less. I happened to have a 2" aluminum standoff which I drilled out to 3/16" and glued into an old file handle. As long as the handle is hollowed out to allow for the length of the shaft to go inside you could get by with a shorter standoff. It only has to slide into the bezel approx 1/4" and still leave a bit for the glue point to the handle or for the wrench to grab.

I don't know if McMaster-Carr or MSC have a Canadian distribution network but they have both the hex rods as well as standoffs which you can buy individually. A 10-32 fully threaded standoff will need very little drilling for it to work. If you need other items McMaster has a wealth of things such as nuts and bolts you could buy at the same time. If ordering just a single standoff or if it has to come from the US then freight charges would probably not make it worthwhile.

I have found those coupling nuts at Tru-Value and Ace hardware stores.

Never thought of a hobby shop, will do some searching for them. That as as you suggest HH56 wait til I need a larger assortment of items to make it worthwhile. I need to work on my internet searching skills as I don't come up with 1/2 the stuff you folks do
