Bolt spacing , width and back space - 39 Paxkard six

I am thinking of putting different rims on the 39.
Have been looking for artillery wheel or aftermarket wires that can be painted.

Does anyone know offhand what the bolt spacing and back space of the original 17” wheel would be .
Would rim from something like my 55 Caribbean have same bolt spacing?

The original rims were swapped for 15” rims.

Hey Ewrecks,

I am quite sure the original wheels on the '39 Six were 16". The bolt spacing and offset is another matter; I'm away from my car right now or I'd go and measure them for you. I seem to remember a 5" bolt circle with 4 3/4" stud to stud, but can't be sure and don't want to steer you wrong - sure somebody will chime in with the correct info. Chris

I'll try to take a look at my cars in the next day or two. I have a '37 115c and a '40 110.

My '40 110 has 6x16 wheels, with 5 on 4.5's; not sure what the backspacing is though. Ford passenger car wheels bolted right up. I'm pretty sure the 120's were different.

Edit: I checked a spare wheel tonight from my '40 110. 16", seems to have 5 on 4.25" spacing. Backspacing is 4 1/4:. I did however, bolt up a 60's Ford 4 on 4.5" wheel to the car last summer. Hmmm.

I also checked a couple of wheels from a '47 Clipper that were given to me when I bought an engine: 15", 5 on 4.75" with 3.75" backspacing.

Bringing up an old topic and hope to get an answer.
Summit offers a painted wire wheel that they believed would fit the 39 six. I had them send one and discovered they were wrong.
The wheel would not fit over the center hub and the holes for the lug bolts was too small diameter.
I am getting mixed numbers for the required diameter of the hole for the hub but lug spacing has been quotes as 5x5 or 5x 4.5”
Still no answer on required back space.
I would like to put painted wire wheels or artillery wheels on the car but original artillery prices are too high for a six...and still have issue of cost of center cap or possible beauty rings.
Can anyone confirm the lug spacing and hub diameter ?
Has anyone found a reproduction artillery or wire wheel for this type of car?
Any info appreciated.
