Could someone tell me how to remove the glass lens from the 1940 fender lamp? This is not covered in the owner's manual. I would think that they should un-screw, but that doesn't seem to be the proper method and I don't want to force anything. I'm adding after market turn signals and it appears that the 1940 was already wired with a double filament Mazda 1154 bulb/socket, so the install should be fairly straight forward; I need to get at the bulbs to change one of them.

According to the parts manual, there is the glass, part 354135 and the "CLAMP RING, Lamp fender glass" part 354136. Doesn't sound like a screw in situation. I'm only familiar with the '41 arrangement so I'll let somebody with '40 expertise give the correct answer.

Unscrew about a quarter turn. I suggest pushing in while turning, although you won't feel any "spring" to it.

If the glass turns without the chrome bezel, then it won't come off. The bezel has to twist. Here's is what it looks like on the inside. The chrome bezel locks itself onto the two tangs in the base of the unit.
