As we learned in trying to rebuild my dad's '38 using a '39 block....the water pump, pulley, and crank pulley are all specific to the '39 Super 8 engine. They are VERY hard to find. Ideally one of the Packard suppliers would pick this engine up and use it as a source for extremely rare parts. Seattle Packard, Packards Southwest, Tucson Packard, Max Merritt and Kanter all come to mind.

Solid looking 1947 Super Clipper in British Columbia, Canada. Does not seem like a car with an extensive service history so will probably require a handful of suspension items and a good tuneup. Some wiring in the engine bay looks a little funny.

I believe I noted 38 vs 39 previously and was shot down.

I knew old timers who loved the 39 Su8, but I have no place to put stuff like that.

I knew someone who bought an L29 Cord for $50 dollars on condition that the car be driven from Rhode Island to New Jersey. I'll reckon showing up with a $100 bill will take that motor.

Wow! Looks pretty nice overall, at least to me. Looks like some issues on the front headlight area tho. Would be a lot of mechanical repairs - exhaust, brakes, hoses, Torsion Level, etc. Probably Ultramatic too

The car was donated when it was only 18 year old and has been in storage since! Yes, it will need a lot of work but has the precious advantage of not having been dicked around with for 50 years.

The Roscoe Turner car would be an interesting historical item to have. Maybe it was a factory pick up/delivery?

See this thread about Roscoe and the testing of the 55 25,000 mile car at the PPG.

Hmmm, cheap, too. May be too good to pass up.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.
