Still laughing at the $1000 estimated valuation. For that car the price is in the name 😆

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

I've been reading Dr. Zhivago. It's a tough read because Russian literature is written for people who have few outlets for entertainment besides the written word.

Anyway, Yuri is wandering the Russian countryside after the revolution and ventures into a town where "merchants are making fortunes trading the same items over and over".

That sounds a lot like what is going on in the USA at the moment.

Russian literature is written for people who have to stay indoors 6 months out of the year to keep from freezing to death. A short version of that freezing thing would be Jack London's To Build A Fire.

Coldest winter I ever spent is the one maybe 12 or 13 years ago when I read The Gulag Archipelago in its entirety. The best part is where the author describes my birthday and the women mixing concrete on the sidewalk and toting it to the forth floor (stairs) all the while talking about Sputnik I. "It flies!" "Yes, it does fly." Which explains how the 180 got to be the ZIS.

I have some nominees for Gulag stints.

This winter, in between reading all kinds of Packard stuff, I'm reading about Stalingrad.

What?

Wat has extension ladders and, mercifully, no need for a walkboard.

Right. My mind had wandered elsewhere. Thank you.

I might reconsider on the walkboard, however.

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.
