Quite a regular

I just went and looked at my 1936 120 convertible sedan. The whiskers are straight at each end on my car.

Thanks for the response - whiskers are not bent on the ends, the outer glass sweeps are straight. Makes sense since they are primarily to prevent rattles and minimize water intrusion.

While we are on the topic, did the '37 115-C Convertible Coupe have those whiskers? Unlike my 54, I didn't see any holes indicating where they would have attached along the top of the door between it and the glass.

The same on my 120C. (I received enough to do a 4 door I think from Kanter) so I put them on both the top door panel trim and the door itself, placing the dressed end at the door opening and burying the cut end at the vent end. As there was no holes in the door trim panel nor the door skin on mine and the paint was already done, I simply used a strong urethane adhesive.
I have no idea if it is 'as original' because there was no archival evidence of anything left on my car when I got it, but am very happy with the result. You are right, no window rattle and also no unsightly gaps and smooth window action. I still have a fair amount left over too! Bob J.

Bob J, hopefully you can help me out. I'm currently restoring all my windows, window frames etc. Don't know if you restored your own vent/door window frames. But I'm currently putting my vent window together and am about to install the rigid run channel. The pieces I have can run from top all the way to the bottom (pictured with yellow highlight) My question is, is the protruding metal piece (red arrow) needed. I know it was originally covered with felt but if the rigid run channel covers the whole channel area, is this protruding piece needed? Will leaving it there cause the door frame to possibly rub or bang against it? Or does it need to be removed? Thanks. Hopefully I was clear enough in my explanation.

Yes I have, and yes I removed that piece from my vent window channel and simply used the supplied whisker channel the entire length. Mine fit fairly tightly so no fasteners were used. I did lay a fine bead of urethane adhesive on the channel before pressing the whisker channel in.
Thanks, Bob J.

I removed that channel and ran a continuous piece from top to bottom.

Right on. Thank you Bob J and BigKev for the responses back! I was about to go through the extra efforts to reinstall and test fit to see if I needed that piece to remain on there or not. This saves me a lot of time!
